The Spirit of London, a magnificent coffee-table book produced by Anthony Osmond-Evans to celebrate the London Olympics and HM Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee, was officially launched at a special evening event at The Dorchester Hotel on Tuesday 24 April 2012
The Mayor of London and the Lord Mayor have both written Forewords for The Spirit of London book, which was presented, on behalf of London, to the Olympians and Paralympians who visited our shores to compete in the Games.
Author and publisher of the book, Anthony Osmond-Evans, said: "The Spirit of London - a legacy - paints with a broad brush the changing seasons, personalities and cultures, which make up the colourful mosaic that is London today.
"One moment we visit the richly historic Guildhall with Prime Minister David Cameron at the Lord Mayor's Banquet. We find ourselves at the Chelsea Flower Show or watching Notting Hill Carnival. Perhaps we make a brief stop at a fencing tournament in Camden .... the Boat Race on the River Thames .... or discover ourselves dreamily listening to the thwack of leather on willow at Lord's cricket ground .... or at the open-air theatre in Regent's Park."
By way of interest, Giuliano Morandin, manager of The Bar and ‘master of cocktails’ at The Dorchester, has created The Spirit of London with his delicious mix of champagne and Edgerton’s Pink Gin. Price £20.12
